TEHRAN - Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Monday that according to the IAEA report, there is no “legal and technical” reason not to close the dossier of possible military dimensions (PMD).

The report issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency proves the peacefulness of Iran’s nuclear activities, Shamkhani said during a meeting with Lebanese Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil in Tehran.

However, Shamkhani said that the some parts of the report are “incomplete and unacceptable”.

Yukiya Amano, the IAEA director, released his final report about Iran’s past and present nuclear activities on December 2. The IAEA board should study the report and issue a resolution on December 15.

Shamkhani also said that roots of terrorism should be studies in order to counter the issue.

Elsewhere, he called for expansion of economic relations between Tehran and Beirut.

For his part, Khalil said that Iran is Lebanon’s “strategic partner”.

He also said that it is essential to cut financial support to terrorists in order to win the war on terrorism.

-----‘Unity among Muslims essential to establish peace’

In a separate meeting with the Lebanese finance minister on Monday, Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said unity among Muslims is required to establish peace in the Middle East.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategy has always been establishing peace in the region and we consider the issue beneficial to the Islamic community and all the countries,” Larijani noted.

Larijani also urged supporters of terrorism not to fuel the flames of insecurity because it will benefit no country.

Elsewhere, he said that Iran is duty bound to support Lebanon in defending against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Khalil attached great importance to Iran’s status in the region and praised Iran’s positive role in the international stage.
